First of all I want to sincerely thank LMA for all they have done in the interest of providing and saving live music. you guys do a great job!!
If there are in fact exagerations in the petition, the fact remains that the main gist is valid. I would encourage all to sign the petition and if you feel there are discrepancies, address them in the comment section that is provided for everyone who signs. I will comment that my signature pertains only to LMA because that is the only site that I know for a fact is affected....BUT I WILL SIGN !!!http://new.petitiononline.com/deadpet/petition.html

Also in response to a recent comment that the petition does not thank the Dead, that is ridiculous!! I haven't seen anything from GDP thanking the legions of Deadheads who have paid for their fancy cars, houses etc, by going to hundreds of shows and spending so much money on all their merch and music. Anyone who was there will remember the financial and emotional sacrifices and hardships that are required of anyone who invests this much time and energy on any one issue or venture. Obviously no-one forced us to do this, but there was a sense that the band understood and appreciated what we did, and one of the ways they demonstrated it was by allowing us access to their music. Even those of us who DL shows have bought every release that they have provided, regardless of whether we already had them. My closet is full of overflow dead cds, merch & dvds. If we had been like most music fans and only gone to one show a year in our hometown, these guys would just be another good band lost in the crowd.

You have to sign (= *agree* to) the petition in order to *object* to its untruth?! I have trouble following that "logic".

That was exactly my first reaction. I am so sad, not for myself but I just can't believe that Jerry would be happy about this.
Peace................

a pure and unadulterated amen to that purple - i signed the petition no matter how "it came across". if the GD can sell out to Apple and ITunes - i have no issue with signing a somewhat problematic petition. i have sunk so much money into the GD that I could care less how I now come across to their corportate gryphon now.
I mean, seriously, they have made more money than every other artist on this site combined. To now demand more is simply ridiculous. I know it is their legal right - i just don't have to respect it or like it. GD is now tained :(
